Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to rapidly complete the remaining work of providing piped drinking water to homes in the Vindhya-Bundelkhand region under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He said that in villages 100 percent saturated with Jal Jeevan Mission, every house should be verified with transparency because satisfaction of every consumer is essential.
CM said that we have to further strengthen the system of on-site inspection. Trained plumbers should be deployed in every village. Summer season is starting. Therefore, alternative arrangements should be made to provide drinking water in Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions. No family should face drinking water problem even for a single day in summer.
He was reviewing the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission in the state at his official residence on Tuesday. He said that under Jal Jeevan Mission, a campaign is going on to provide pure drinking water to 2.65 crore rural families of the state. Before the start of Jal Jeevan Mission, only 5.16 lakh families were getting pure drinking water from tap. Due to the continuous efforts of the state government, the dream of providing pure drinking water to more than 2.12 crore families has now come true.
He said that the work of Jal Jeevan Mission has entered the last phase in the entire Bundelkhand and Vindhya region including Jhansi, Lalitpur, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Banda, Chitrakoot, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra. Piped drinking water facility should also be provided to the remaining houses in a time bound manner. This scheme of providing tap water to every house is the biggest example of fulfillment of the resolve to make life easier. Very soon, tap water facility will be available in every house of Vindhya and Bundelkhand.
The Chief Minister said that due to the drinking water project, roads have been excavated at many places. It is the responsibility of the executing agency to repair the road as soon as the work is completed. He directed to fix accountability for the roads damaged due to the drinking water project.
It was also said that people should be made aware about the importance of water and ground water conservation through street plays/short films. People should be encouraged to conserve water. In this work, cooperation of Panchayat representatives should be taken and water committees should be kept active.
