Varanasi. An application demanding repair of the basement of Vyas ji located in Gyanvapi and ban on anyone going on the terrace was filed in the District Judge’s court on Wednesday. The application was filed by Ramprasad Singh, a resident of Sundarpur, the plaintiff in the case Maa Shringaar Gauri vs Union of India etc. The court has fixed March 19 for hearing on this matter.
In the application filed by Ramprasad’s lawyers Sudhir Tripathi, Subhashnandan Chaturvedi, Deepak Singh, it was told that on the orders of the court, worship is going on in the basement of Vyas ji. The roof of the basement is dilapidated and weak and the people of Anjuman Intejamia Masjid (mosque wing) are trying to gather on the roof and block the worship by demolishing it. There is a possibility of disturbance of peace due to this. If the roof is damaged, the life and property of those attending worship in the basement may be in danger.
Demand for permission for puja by removing barricades
The receiver District Magistrate of the basement should be ordered to repair the basement and the people from the mosque side should be prohibited from going on the roof. In the Gyanvapi case, another application was filed in the District Judge’s court on behalf of Rakhi Singh, the plaintiff in the case, demanding regular darshan and worship of Maa Shringar Gauri. In this, a demand has been made to remove the barricading installed in the Gyanvapi complex and allow the worship of Maa Shringar Gauri, Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Nandi Ji and other deities present there.
It was told in the application that in the year 1993, without any written order, the puja was stopped by putting barricades in Gyanvapi. Every year the puja is allowed on the fourth day of Vasantik Navratri. Uttar Pradesh Government, District Magistrate Varanasi, Police Commissioner should be ordered to remove barricades and make arrangements for puja. The court has fixed March 19 for the next hearing.
