Lucknow. More than Rs 176 crore will soon be sent to the accounts of 3.76 lakh farmers who were deprived of crop compensation in the last two years due to technical reasons. These farmers were left out of compensation due to incorrect Aadhaar and account numbers during data feeding.
Recently, in the review meeting held regarding compensation and other relief for crops damaged due to natural disaster, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had instructed the officials to provide compensation amount to the farmers after getting immediate verification done in such cases. Expressing displeasure over the negligence in re-verification of damage to crops and non-release of compensation, the Chief Minister had also directed to seek answers from ADM FR of 17 districts.
Additional Chief Secretary Sudhir Garg said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, a survey was conducted again in all the districts of the state to provide assistance to the farmers who were left out of compensation. The survey found that a total of 3,76,287 farmers were left out of compensation for damaged crops in the state’s financial year 2021-22 and 2022-233. A total amount of Rs 1,76,96,63,245 has been demanded from the government for both the financial years from all 75 districts of the state.
Relief Commissioner GS Naveen said that during data feeding of farmers affected by damaged crops, compensation is not paid due to mistake and duplication in Aadhaar, account number. In such a situation, re-verification is done, but there was negligence in this at the district level in the last two years, due to which compensation could not be released to the farmers.
It is noteworthy that till January in the current financial year, assistance amounting to more than Rs 80,88,68,299 has been distributed to more than 1,87,845 farmers. It is known that compensation is given to the farmers affected by more than 33 percent damaged crops due to flood, hailstorm and unseasonal rain.
Most farmers remained deprived of compensation in Sitapur
According to Additional Chief Secretary Revenue, the survey found that maximum 27,836 farmers of Sitapur were left out of compensation in the financial year 2021-22, who are being paid an amount of Rs 10,72,51,397. At the same time, compensation is being paid to 22,661 farmers of Bareilly at second place and 19,420 farmers of Lalitpur at third place.
Similarly, maximum 21,002 farmers of Siddharthnagar were left out of compensation in the financial year 2022-23, who are being paid an amount of Rs 10,07,53,392. At the same time, compensation is being paid to 17,296 farmers of Jhansi at second place and 12,933 farmers of Balrampur at third place.
