Lucknow. BJP Rajya Sabha Election List: BJP has declared the list of seven candidates from Uttar Pradesh for the Rajya Sabha elections on Sunday. The candidates announced by the party for Uttar Pradesh include former Union Minister of State for Home RPN Singh, senior BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, former Mathura MP Chaudhary Tejveer Singh, former MLA Sadhna Singh, party’s state general secretary Amarpal Maurya, former Minister of State Dr. Sangeeta Balwant and former Mayor of Agra Naveen Jain are included.
The discussion of accommodating RPN Singh, who left Congress and joined BJP before the last assembly elections, in the party was going on for a long time. By deciding to send him to Rajya Sabha, the party has put an end to these speculations.
Sudhanshu Trivedi is the only candidate whom the party has decided to send back to the Upper House of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh. After the announcement of giving Bharat Ratna award to Chaudhary Charan Singh, BJP has given a political message to the Jat community by announcing the sending of Chaudhary Tejveer Singh, who was the chairman of UP Cooperative Bank, to the Rajya Sabha.

Sadhna Singh has been a BJP MLA from Mughalsarai seat of Chandauli. Dr. Sangeeta Balwant, who was elected MLA from Ghazipur Sadar seat as a BJP candidate in 2017, was the Minister of State in the first term of the Yogi government. Whereas industrialist Naveen Jain represents the business class.
Two women are among the seven candidates announced by the BJP, who are busy preparing for the Nari Shakti Vandan campaign. The party has also tried to solve the social equation. Of the candidates declared for Uttar Pradesh, two are from advanced castes while four are from other backward castes while one is from Jain (minority) community.
RPN Singh, who belongs to the Kushinagar royal family, belongs to the backward Sainthwar caste. This caste has influence in many districts of Purvanchal. Sudhanshu Trivedi is a Brahmin while Sangeeta Singh is a Thakur. Chaudhary Tejveer Singh is from Jat community and Dr. Sangeeta Balwant is from Bind (Nishad) community.
Amarpal Maurya is also from backward caste while Naveen Jain belongs to Jain community. In terms of BJP’s organizational areas, among the declared candidates, two are from Braj region, three from Kashi region and one each from Gorakhpur and Awadh region.
It is noteworthy that 10 Rajya Sabha seats in the state are falling vacant on April 2. Of these, nine seats are with BJP and one with SP. The nomination process has started for these 10 seats which are going to be vacant. The last date for nomination is 15 February. Rajya Sabha elections will be held on 27 February. Based on the numerical strength of the Legislative Assembly, BJP is in a position to easily win seven seats.
