In the Gyanvapi case, the Supreme Court heard the petition filed by the Hindu side demanding cleaning of the sealed area.
The Hindu side had demanded immediate cleaning of the dirt spread after the death of fishes in the tank of the alleged Shivalinga. The Hindu side says that since according to our belief Shivalinga is present there and Shivalinga needs to be kept away from any kind of dirt and dead creatures. The presence of Shivalinga amidst such filth is going to hurt the sentiments of Shiva devotees. Therefore, the court should direct the District Magistrate, Varanasi to get this area completely cleaned.
The Supreme Court said that during the cleaning, the District Magistrate Varanasi will keep in mind the old order of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had said in its old order that the sealed area should be kept safe and nothing should be tampered with.
