Afghanistan Cricket Board has taken a big decision regarding three players of the team. The board has stopped the central contracts of Mujeeb ur Rehman, Fazal Farooqui and Naveen ul Haq. Apart from this, the board has also decided not to give no objection certificate to these players for the next two years. The players had expressed their desire to the board to release themselves from the central contract, after which the decision was taken not to give the no objection certificate.
Afghanistan Cricket Board officially issued a press release and shared this information. The press release stated that the players are focusing more on playing for Afghanistan in the commercial league and their personal interests. They are not giving priority to national duty.
Afghanistan formed a committee to deal with the issue, a member of which said, “The three players had formally informed the board about their decision to release themselves from the central contract starting January 1, 2024.” Expressed their willingness and requested to consider their consent for their participation in national events.
Afghanistan did wonders in the ODI World Cup
Some time ago, the Afghanistan cricket team had performed better than expected in the ODI World Cup 2023 played on Indian soil. The team had won 4 out of 9 matches. These were Afghanistan’s most wins in an ODI World Cup. The Afghan team had defeated England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Netherlands. Everyone was surprised by Afghanistan’s performance in the tournament. The team had just missed going to the semi-finals.
