A sensational incident has come to light in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Here in Nangla Kakaroa, a farmer committed suicide by jumping in front of the train. It is alleged that the electricity department officials had disconnected the tube well connection of the farmer’s field. For this reason he was very sad. At the same time, after the death of the farmer, the villagers protested by keeping his dead body outside the electricity department office and demanded action against the officers.
According to the family members, the tube well was closed due to the electricity connection being disconnected. Due to this, crops grown in about 40 bighas were destroyed. After the connection of the electric tube well was disconnected, the deceased farmer had complained about it to the senior officials of the electricity department including the District Magistrate of Aligarh, yet no one fell on deaf ears. This is the reason why the farmer committed suicide by jumping in front of the train.
Anger among the people of Nangla Kakroa village of Aligarh
The name of the deceased is Chhaviram and he is said to be a resident of Nangla Kakroa village of Aligarh. Omveer Singh, brother-in-law of the deceased farmer, said that Chhaviram had taken the electricity connection of the tube well for irrigation of his crops about 6 months ago. But then a person died of electrocution in a nearby field, after which the connection to Chhaviram’s tube well was disconnected.
Accusations against electricity department officials
Due to lack of adequate irrigation the crop started drying up. Chhaviram also gave application to JE several times regarding opening of tube well. Despite this, the officials of the electricity department ignored it. Even on July 24, 2023, after reaching Lal Diggi Electricity Distribution Office of the city, the victim farmer had appealed to the Executive Engineer Officer to solve the problem. The officer had also given instructions to solve the problem. But, still the problem remained the same.
At the same time, as soon as the news of suicide was received, there was chaos in the family. Angered by the death of the farmer, the family members protested by keeping the dead body outside the office of the Executive Engineer Officer. On receiving information about the ruckus, the police reached the spot and assured the family of action and sent the body to the mortuary for post-mortem.
