Former MLA Bhagwan Sharma alias Guddu Pandit has suffered a shock. Bulandshahr’s special MP MLA court has sentenced Guddu Pandit to 14 months imprisonment in a decade-old case. Guddu Pandit, a two-time MLA from Dibai seat, was accused of threatening his political rival before the assembly elections. Special Government Prosecutor Hitendra Verma said, “MP MLA Court Judge Vinay Kumar Singh has sentenced former MLA Bhagwan Sharma to 14 months’ jail after holding him guilty of threatening a person who was preparing to contest elections in 2011. ”
Former MLA Guddu Pandit sentenced to 14 months
Bhagwan Sharma has been MLA from Dibai seat in 2007 and 2012 on Bahujan Samaj Party ticket. Verma said that immediately after the court’s decision, the former MLA applied for bail. The court approved the application. According to police sources, Rakesh Sharma, who wanted to contest assembly elections from Dibai constituency, had filed a complaint in the year 2011. In the complaint made to the police, it was alleged that Bhagwan Sharma threatened over the phone. Sharma also included the recording of the phone call as evidence in the complaint letter.
It was a matter of threatening a political opponent
On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case at Shikarpur police station and started investigation. After investigation, the police had filed a charge sheet against Bhagwan Sharma. Sharma spoke to journalists after getting bail. He termed the issue of threat as false. The former MLA expressed hope that the higher court will do justice in the case. Let us tell you that Rakesh Sharma was preparing to contest against Guddu Pandit. The victim had recorded the threatening phone call.
