Varanasi. In the eight-year-old Injustice Pratikhar Yatra case, now only Congress state president Ajay Rai will be prosecuted. The court of Special Judge (MP-MLA) Avnish Gautam on Wednesday ordered withdrawal of the case against the other 81 accused.
While informing the court about the state government’s decision to withdraw the pending case against them, the prosecution had appealed in this regard.
A protest march was taken out regarding the immersion of Ganesh idol.
On behalf of the prosecution, ADGC Vinay Kumar Singh had given an application saying that most of the accused in the said case are saints, mahatmas and their followers. A religious procession and a protest march against injustice were taken out demanding the immersion of the Ganesh idol.
No witness has specifically mentioned the incident being caused by any saint, mahatma, sadhu, sannyasi or their followers. Therefore, it is necessary and justified to withdraw the case against the accused saints and their followers. Ajay Rai was an MLA at the time of the incident and has a previous criminal history.
this was the case
In compliance with the High Court’s order to ban idol immersion in the Ganga, the district administration did not allow the immersion of the idol of Kashi Maratha Ganeshotsav Committee. On September 22, 2015, the police resorted to lathi charge to remove Swami Avimukteshwaranand who was protesting with his disciples at Godaulia intersection.
In protest against this, Aajya Pratikhar Yatra was taken out on October 5, 2015. There was a stampede at Godaulia intersection around 5 pm. The miscreants set fire to the magistrate’s jeep, fire brigade vehicle, police van and more than two dozen bikes. The police had filed a charge sheet against 82 people in the court.
We have full faith in the judiciary
State Congress President, Ajay Rai said that 81 out of 82 accused in the Injustice Pratikhar Yatra case are being acquitted. Except us. This is political hatred. A protest march was taken out on the call of sages and saints.
Many BJP leaders were involved. The government wants to suppress our voice, but we have full faith in the judiciary. The people’s fight and struggle for justice will continue.
