New Delhi. Pakistan was eliminated from the tournament after losing to Sri Lanka in the Super 4 of Asia Cup 2023. After this, Pakistani captain Babar Azam is being continuously criticized on social media.
Hafeez came out in support of Babar-
Now in such a situation, former Pakistan captain and member of the technical committee of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohammad Hafeez has come out in support of the current captain of the team. Hafeez has appealed to support Babar Azam and boost his confidence. Babar will captain the Pakistan team in the World Cup.
Babar alone is not responsible-
While addressing the media on Saturday, Hafeez answered the questions being raised regarding Babar’s captaincy. Hafeez said, “It is not right to blame Babar alone for not reaching the Asia Cup final. We are the only ones to reach the final. “If you are not willing to give credit to the captain, then why make him alone responsible for not reaching the Asia Cup final. Cricket is a team game.”
Need to work on weaknesses-
Hafeez stressed on standing with Babar Azam and the team in this difficult period. He said that all these players have been playing together under the captaincy of Babar for some time, so if we pay attention to some weak points, then Pakistan remains one of the top four favorites in the World Cup.
Loss caused by Naseem and Harris-
Hafeez said that we need to focus on areas to improve our game. He said that the spinners did not perform as per expectations. Apart from this, we have suffered a lot due to the injuries of Naseem Shah and Harris Rauf. He also clarified that there will be no change in the captain.
