A case of kidney theft of an 18 year old boy has come to light during the operation of stones in the nursing home in Pratapgarh. The boy’s mother has made serious allegations against the hospital. The son’s mother is making rounds of government officials’ offices for justice. In fact, a woman living in Devapur Chowkhar of Lalganj Kotwali area of the district had got her son operated for kidney stones in a nursing home located in the city.
According to the information, Sangeeta Verma is wandering from door to door for justice with her 18 year old son Sachin and his investigation report. She alleges that a year ago her son started having stomach ache and took treatment from local doctors for several days. When there was no relief, the doctor advised to undergo ultrasound. He got his son examined on 22 April at Manoj Ultrasound located in Lalganj town. In this investigation, both the kidneys were said to be normal. But, a stone of 8.6mm appeared.
Stone’s operation done
After receiving the report, on August 17, he admitted his son Akshat to the nursing home. Where he was discharged after the operation. The treatment continued and after a month, seeing no relief in pain even after taking medicine, another doctor, A.K. Mishra was shown. When Dr. Mishra advised ultrasound, the woman got her son ultrasound done again. When Samarth got checked by ultrasound on 3rd August 23, the ground slipped from under him. His right kidney was not visible during ultrasound.
plea for justice from the police
There was panic among the family members and they got tested at Pratap Bahadur Medical College on 21st August and Kumud Ultrasound on 22nd August and in both the test reports, the report of right kidney was not visualized. The family became dejected and disappointed and started searching for justice. In this sequence, the woman reached the Superintendent of Police office with her son and pleaded for justice.
The doctor denied the allegations
After the allegations of missing kidney, the director of Akshat Nursing Home, Dr. AC Tripathi, who is a surgeon, completely rejected the issue of missing kidney and said that all the allegations are completely baseless. Sachin had undergone surgery for kidney stones and had earlier also undergone CT IVP test in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in which there was a clear report that the kidney had become as thin as paper. He must have collapsed after the operation. Because of which it would not be visible in the ultrasound. In support of his claim, he also presented the report of Sanya Diagnostic of Ahmedabad, Gujarat dated 7 August 22 and the investigation report of Sahyog Imagine Center dated 10 August 22.
Investigation will be done on receipt of complaint
In this matter, when CMO Girendra Mohan Shukla was talked to on the allegations of kidney theft, he said that this cannot happen because there is no kidney transplant facility in the district. On the matter of smuggling of human organs, he said that till now I have not heard anything about kidney transplant. No complaint has been received regarding this incident, investigation will be conducted after receiving the complaint.
