Gorakhpur. As soon as the attachment of the house started, the police found Guddi Devi and her husband, the former head of Karamahan Buzurg village. After catching both of them, the SOG handed them over to the Gulriha police station. The SSP had announced a reward of Rs 15,000 each on the couple accused of embezzlement who were absconding for six months.
On the instructions of the District Magistrate, the Joint Magistrate inspected the toilets built under the Swachh Bharat Mission in Karamahan Buzurg village, in which embezzlement of Rs 11.68 lakh was confirmed. In this case, the Gulriha police station had registered a case against village head Guddi Devi, her husband Manoj Modanwal and the guilty personnel. Departmental action was taken against the then Gram Panchayat Officer Firdaus.
Even after giving notice, the village head and her husband did not deposit the government money, after which the SDM issued an order for recovery from their movable and immovable property. The Gulriha police station, which is investigating the case of forgery and embezzlement, reached to attach the property of the former head and her husband on Saturday morning on the orders of the court. After some time it came to know that SOG has arrested both of them.
