Varanasi. On the orders of the District Judge, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey will start from Monday in the Gyanvapi campus. For this, a team of ASI experts reached Banaras on Sunday with special equipment.
Had a meeting with Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma and Police Commissioner Mutha Ashok Jain and District Magistrate S Rajalingam at the camp office of the Police Commissioner. The lawyers and litigants of the temple and mosque sides were also involved in the meeting.
Survey will start from 7 am
According to the commissioner, a five-member team has arrived on Sunday for the survey. Ten members will reach on Monday. The survey will start at 7 am. Along with the team of ASI, there will be four women litigants from the temple side, four lawyers with them and their lawyers from the Muslim side. The list of who will go to the Gyanvapi campus was decided. When asked that the lawyers of Anjuman Intejamia Masjid have challenged the district judge’s order in the Supreme Court and the hearing is also scheduled for Monday, the commissioner said that whatever decision the apex court gives will be followed.
Videography and photography of the survey proceedings will also be done. He told that after the decision of the district court, the ASI made its preparations for the survey for two days and now they have come here with preparations.
There will be a survey of the entire campus except Vujukhana
- The court of District Judge Dr. Ajay Krishna Vishwesh had last Friday ordered a survey of the entire Gyanvapi campus, except the area of the Vujukhana, which was sealed by the order of the Supreme Court. The ASI director was also ordered to present the report of the survey in the court on August 4. The matter will also come up for hearing on the same day.
- The District Judge had ordered that the ASI should conduct scientific investigation, survey and excavation to find out whether the building in the Gyanvapi complex was built on the structure of an already existing Hindu temple.
Explaining the need to investigate all the constructions and evidences in the Gyanvapi premises, the pillars, the western wall, the platform, the basement, the dome, all the places including GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) or other scientific methods were ordered to collect evidence through investigation, survey or excavation. It was also said that special care should be taken to ensure that there is no damage to the evidence during the survey.
called additional security force
The Police Commissioner said that during the survey the security arrangements will be tight. Additional security force has been called for this. They have been deployed in and around the Gyanvapi campus. In order to maintain peace in the city, all the police station in-charges have been instructed to circumambulate in their respective areas. From 12 o’clock in the night, the force was deployed at the number four door of Srikashi Vishwanath Dham. Security was tightened in the surrounding areas from 2 am.
Devotees will not have trouble
The District Magistrate says that the order of the court will be followed completely. The survey team has come with full preparation. All kind of cooperation will be provided to him. During this, care will also be taken to ensure that the devotees coming to the Vishwanath temple do not face any kind of trouble.
The mosque side demanded to stop the survey
Syed Muhammad Yasin, Joint Secretary of Anjuman Intejamia Masjid, told that he handed over the letter to the District Magistrate in the meeting. It was written in it that the case is pending in the Supreme Court. A contempt application has also been filed against the district judge’s order for ASI survey.
It is to be heard on Monday. Therefore, any action should be taken only after the decision of the Supreme Court. Officials said that there is no stay of any higher court on the order of ASI survey. Therefore, the order of the district court has to be followed.
