Lucknow: Smugglers used two passengers coming from Bihar to Lucknow as carriers. Through him, gold paste worth Rs 4.57 crore was sent from Muscat. Two passengers were caught at Lucknow airport with gold paste weighing around 7.39 kg. The travelers had brought gold by hiding it in their undergarments. After questioning, he was handed over to the Sarojini Nagar police.
Customs had received the input to smuggle gold from Gulf countries at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The team of Assistant Commissioner Andrew Haque and Superintendent Adesh Sharma was constantly on alert at the airport. Meanwhile, Salaam Air flight OV-795 reached Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport from Muscat. After the flight landed in Lucknow, when two passengers passed through immigration and reached the custom area, their role looked suspicious.
After coming to Lucknow, both the passengers going to Bihar were questioned by the custom team. His baggage was checked. When the team checked the inner wear of both the passengers, 7.39 kg gold paste was found in it. During interrogation, both the passengers told that these packets were given to them in Muscat. Had to give it to a person outside the airport. That person would have given 20-20 thousand rupees to deliver gold to both of them.
The team of the Custom Department has collected many information related to this syndicate. Apart from Lucknow, many more airports have been alerted, where direct flights come from Dubai and other Gulf countries. Sarojinagar police arrested both the smugglers and sent them to jail.
