One of his friends died on Saturday after battling cancer. The second kept crying in the cremation ground and then suddenly jumped into the burning pyre. Even before the friend’s funeral pyre cooled down, he also died in the hospital.
The incident is of Madhaiya Nadiya village under Nagla Khangar police station area. Ashok’s friendship here was with 43-year-old farmer Gaurav, a resident of Gadhiya Panchavati, one kilometer away. Ashok was running ill for six months, a month ago the doctor told cancer. Ashok died at six in the morning on Saturday.
Ashoka was cremated on the banks of the Yamuna at one o’clock in the afternoon. According to the police, the villagers returned after the pyre was lit, but Gaurav sat there crying and suddenly jumped into the pyre. The youths taking bath in the Yamuna somehow pulled them out of the funeral pyre.
On receiving the information, the relatives admitted him to the Government Trauma Center, from where he was referred to Agra. Gaurav died on the way. His body was also cremated late in the evening. SP Rural Ranvijay Singh said, Gaurav could not bear the death of his friend.
