Deoband: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team on Wednesday picked up the imam of the mosque after raiding village Imlia in the area. The suspect was interrogated for hours at the police station, after which he was released. The team has questioned Imam on various points including mobile calls.
The NIA team reached Imlia village at around 6 am on Wednesday morning and detained the Imam Maulana Qasim present in the mosque there. The news of the raid in the mosque created panic in the village. Later, the team caught the suspect and brought him to Deoband Kotwali and was interrogated for about three hours in a room.
The team interrogated Imam Qasim for about three hours and checked his ID proof, bank account and other documents. Mobile call detail also investigated about I calls. After thorough interrogation, the team left Maulana in the custody of Pappu and Farman, the former head of the village.
However, the team did not tell anyone anything in this regard. The police are also refusing to know about the whole matter. Pappu, former head of village Imlia, told that Maulana Qasim has been doing Imamat in the village mosque for more than three years. Along with this, they do the work of teaching children in the madrassa located in the mosque.
There, Imam Qasim told that he did not know why the team had taken him? Whatever questions the team asked regarding his identity, he gave correct information. The team has taken some documents with them. The team released him after questioning.

Maulana Kasim is a resident of Hussainabad Bhanwada village under Ratanpuri police station area of Muzaffarnagar district. The team reached village Bhanwada before nightfall. Searched Maulana Qasim’s house and gathered information about documents and certificates related to him. When Qasim was not found there, the team picked him up early in the morning from village Imlia.
