Jhansi: Asad Ahmed, son of Mafia Atiq, was killed in a police encounter on 13 April. Along with Asad, the police had also killed Atiq’s special henchman Ghulam Mohammad. The panel includes retired High Court Justice Rajeev Lochan Mehrotra and retired Director General Vijay Kumar Gupta. Both these top officials will investigate all aspects of the encounter between Asad and Ghulam.
Umesh Pal was absconding after the murder
Both the criminals were on the run since the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal, who was shot dead in Prayagraj on February 24. On April 13, at around 11.30 am, both were seen on a bike 100 meters away from the Parichha dam turn in Jhansi. The police had asked to stop and surrender. After this the criminals accelerated the bike. Entered a narrow lane.
Both killed in police retaliatory action

At the same time, two days after Asad’s encounter, mafia Atiq Ahmed and his uncle Ashraf were also shot dead by three assailants in Prayagraj. Mafia Atiq was shot on the head. Along with this, the attackers also killed Ashraf by firing bullets. Asad and Ashraf were killed in police custody.
