Noida. A speeding Mercedes car went uncontrolled and collided with the divider in Sector-93 of Phase II Kotwali area of Noida around 2 pm on Tuesday night. After hitting the divider, the car caught fire and the gate got locked. The driver remained inside and died a painful death in the fire. After about four hours of effort, the driver could be taken out in a dead condition.

The deceased has been identified as Anuj Sehrawat of Rohini Sector 9, New Delhi. The police sent the body for autopsy. ADCP Vishal Pandey said that last night the police received information that a Mercedes car had caught fire near Sector-93 and the driver was trapped in the car. On the basis of the information, immediately the policemen and fire brigade personnel reached the spot. Due to the lock of the doors due to the collision, the driver was trapped in the same.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and pulled out the driver by cutting open the door, but he was dead by then. The car was also completely burnt in the accident. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the speed of the car was very high at the time of the incident. The police also informed the relatives of the deceased about the incident. Due to the high speed, the driver lost control of the car and the car climbed the divider and hit the tree. The tree that the Mercedes hit was uprooted.
ACP Amit Pratap Singh told that Anuj has a house in Sector-168 Palm Olympia Society as well. Late night he was coming to Noida from Delhi home, that’s when the accident happened. Police is scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed around the spot. Anuj was employed in a JCB manufacturing company in Faridabad. As soon as the news of death was received, mourning spread in the house.
