New Delhi. Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is hopeful that he will be fit for the ODI series against India in March. Marsh recently underwent heel surgery and is recovering from it. The 31-year-old Marsh had suffered a heel problem during last year’s T20 World Cup. After this, he was ruled out of the Big Bash League in December and had to undergo surgery.
Mitchell Marsh began his recovery and ran his first race on Wednesday. The all-rounder is hopeful that he will be fully fit before the ODI series against India. Marsh told Fox Cricket, ‘The first running session was today. It feels great to be back on the field. It was easy as well as difficult. I have to do some work too. Hopefully, I will be fine in the next six weeks.
He further said, ‘I am focused on the ODI series on India tour. This will be the last home ODI for us and then I will have to fly away, which is fantastic. Marsh played his last international match against England in November. Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is also bent on proving his fitness before the tour of India. Maxwell said that he is looking at his progress week by week and will be back before the BBL season gets over.
Maxwell said, ‘Our India tour is about to come. I am very keen to prepare myself for this. Whether I will be there or not, only time will tell. But I will try my best to be fit with what is in my control. I have time to make a comeback. Australia’s tour of India will start from 9 February. ODI matches will be played between India and Australia on March 17, March 19 and March 22.
