Karachi: After losing the 0-3 series against England, Rameez Raja was the first to fall. Actually he has been removed from the post of chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board. He will be succeeded by Najam Sethi, who will be taking up the responsibility for the second time.
With the departure of Rameez Raja’s chair, one more thing has come to light. In fact, after India’s statement of not going to Pakistan in the Asian Cup, Rameez Raja had threatened that if this happens, Pakistan will also not go to India to play the World Cup. But now a new twist has emerged regarding this statement.
In fact, PCB chairman Rameez Raja has told the ICC that he threatened to boycott the 50-over World Cup in India next year to force the neighboring country to send its team for the Asia Cup.
According to sources, Rameez assured the ICC officials that the PCB has not taken any decision not to send its team to India for the World Cup, nor is it in favor of boycotting such a big tournament but due to the strained relations between the two countries. Due to this, the PCB had put pressure on the Indian board to send its team for the Asia Cup.
What was the whole matter?
In fact, Pakistan has got the hosting of the Asia Cup to be held next year. In October, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had said in a statement that Team India would not go to Pakistan to play the Asia Cup.
For this, there is talk of shifting the Asia Cup to a neutral venue. After this statement, there was a response from the PCB that if this happens then Pakistan will also oppose the World Cup to be held in India and if necessary will boycott it.
