New Delhi. After the failure of T20 World Cup, Team India has started thinking about different captains in different formats. It is also discussed that Hardik Pandya, who is commanding the team on the tour of New Zealand, can also be given its responsibility permanently, but in the meantime, former India bowler Harbhajan Singh gave vent to the matter of separate coaching in T20 cricket. .
He feels that Ashish Nehra should be given the responsibility of coaching for T20 cricket in the Indian team. He understands T20 cricket better than current head coach Rahul Dravid. Nehra, who retired from international cricket in 2017, recently coached Gujarat Titans in the IPL and the team won the trophy under Hardik’s leadership.
I am not saying to remove Rahul – Harbhajan
Harbhajan said that “in T20 format you can have a player like Ashish Nehra, who has recently retired from cricket. He knows better than that. Full respect to Rahul, we have been together for so many years. He has got a lot of knowledge but it is a difficult format.
Speaking to PTI, he further said, “Someone who has played this format recently is better suited for coaching in T20. I am not saying that you should remove Rahul from T20. Ashish and Rahul 2024 World Let’s work together to build this team for the Cup.”
He said that “such an arrangement will also make it easier for Rahul, who is not with the team on the New Zealand tour and is resting. Ashish can do the job in his absence.”
Need for change in T20 approach
Harbhajan said “Your approach has to be changed in T20 format. First six overs are crucial in this format. If that doesn’t happen then you will have to rely on Surya and Hardik to score 50 off 20 balls. If you don’t If we can, we will not be able to score enough.
Harbhajan gave the example of the England team for this. He said that England changed its approach, today they have two World Cup trophies. You can’t play like ODIs in T20.
