Lucknow. CM Yogi Adityanath has said that planned efforts should be made for setting up at least one bio fuel plant in all 75 districts of UP, work should be done on priority. In the next phase it should be extended to every tehsil. Vacant land in village society, revenue land or sugar mill premises should be used for bio-fuel plant and biomass storage.
In a high-level meeting on Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while emphasizing on the need to promote bio-fuel production in the state, while giving instructions to prepare a bio-energy policy said that for future needs, we have to develop biomass supply chain.
There is a need to promote the use of biofuels in the field of energy and transportation. Biomass pellets should be used in power generation plants. Concerted efforts are needed in this direction.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that as per the intention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our efforts to promote bio-energy projects like Compressed Biogas, Biocol, Ethanol and Bio-Diesel have yielded positive results. So far production has started in two units of Biocol and one unit of Compressed Biogas has been completed in June.
The Chief Minister said that promotion of bio-fuel would be helpful in reducing dependence on crude oil and promoting a cleaner environment. Bio fuel will not only help in meeting our energy needs but will also help in generating additional income and employment.
The use of bio fuel will reduce carbon emissions. The whole world is worried about this subject. In such a situation, Uttar Pradesh has an opportunity to present a model. A new bio-energy policy should be prepared to make the state a leading state in this field full of immense potential.
He said that we will have to make special efforts for a permanent solution to the environmental challenges arising out of stubble burning by the Annadata farmers. This issue should also be taken care of in the new policy.
The Chief Minister said that efforts should be made towards the target of producing 500 tonnes of CBG compressed gas per day in five years, then the target of producing 1.5 lakh tonnes per annum would be achieved. The target of 2000-2000 tonnes per day for biocol, biodiesel and bio ethanol should be worked out.
He assured that all necessary support including easy availability of land, capital subsidy would be provided to the investing companies of this sector. The industry must be consulted while formulating a new bio-energy policy. Understand the needs of investing institutions and companies. Taking the opinion of all the parties, a new policy should be prepared after extensive consultation.
