The hosts managed to clinch the series with a 7-wicket win in a rain-hit match on Wednesday. Batting first, Afghanistan scored 95 for 5 in 15 overs. A revised target of 56 runs was set for Ireland in 7 overs. With two balls remaining, the team achieved it at the loss of 3 wickets.
Ireland’s team won the hearts of everyone by performing brilliantly against India and then New Zealand at their home. They have now won 3-2 in the 5-match T20I series against Ireland. In the rain-affected match, the last match was reduced to 15 overs instead of 20. Afghanistan scored 95 runs for 5 wickets. After this, due to rain, the revised target of 56 runs in 7 overs was set for the hosts under the Duckworth-Lewis rule. Ireland chased down the target in 6.4 overs for the loss of 3 wickets on the back of short but useful innings from Paul Starlin and Lorcan Tucker.

Afghanistan came back and registered victory in the third and fourth matches. The third match was 22, while the fourth 27 runs made the Afghan team their name and achieved a 2-2 draw. Ireland won the series by winning the deciding match by 7 wickets.
