New Delhi. Mithali Raj, the former women’s captain of the Indian cricket team, can once again be seen hitting fours and sixes on the field. Mithali, who started her cricket career in 1999, has announced her retirement this year. BCCI is planning to have 5 or 6 team women’s IPL soon. Mithali has indicated to play in this tournament.
Mithali said, “I have not taken any decision yet. Still a few months are left for the women’s IPL to be organized. It would be great to be a part of the first edition of the women’s IPL.”
Mithali Raj played international cricket for more than two decades and managed to lead the team to two World Cup finals as captain. Mithali scored 7805 runs in 232 ODIs which included 7 century innings. Milati, who announced retirement before T20 cricket, has said goodbye to international cricket a few months back.
“I thought that my lifestyle would slow down due to retirement because I would not have to plan for the next day, week and series. When I announced my retirement, then it was Kovid and when I made a recovery from it. So was busy promoting my upcoming film (Shabash Mithu). The film released in theaters this month.”
“So far as a player, my lifestyle has not changed in any way at the moment. Maybe when all these things slow down, then after that I will understand the difference in my post-retirement life.”
