Kanpur: Mohsin Khan of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh is now getting the benefit of being associated with the team of Mumbai Indians in all three seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mohsin’s moments in the nets with veteran players as well as the Mumbai Indians’ Zahir Khan are proving to be a boon for Mohsin, making Mohsin the strongest link in fast bowling for the Lucknow Supergiants.
Mohsin bowled sharply against Delhi Capitals and returned the pavilion to four batsmen for 16 runs, contributing to the team’s victory. Earlier, he had been an example of economical bowling by taking three wickets against Punjab and one against Mumbai.
Mohsin Khan’s coach, Badruddin Siddiqui, originally from Moradabad, said that being associated with a team like the Mumbai Indians for three years and not getting a chance in a single match was a learning moment for him. Mohsin did not give up even after this and prepared himself for bowling by being constantly associated with Mumbai. He says that Mohsin has improved his fitness by continuously bowling to the batsmen in the nets and has acquired proficiency in bounce, swing, and line length from Zahir Khan and other bowlers in the team.
Brother gave support, coach nurtured:
Mohsin’s father, Multan Khan, is a retired policeman, so he lives in PAC Moradabad with his elder brother, Imran, who is himself a cricketer. While playing for the UP Cricket Association, Mohsin gave victory to UP by bowling better many times. Brother Imran used to help Mohsin practise batting as well as bowling. The coach said that Mohsin’s length is good due to the fact that when he throws the ball with a straight hand with high arm action, it becomes challenging for the batsman to play the ball. This is the secret of their success. Swinging the old ball and using bounce gives him wickets.
Aim to become a swing master like Muhammad Shami:
Mohsin, who has bowled under coach Badruddin for nine years, practises hard to bowl and swing like Mohammed Shami. He always looked eager to swing like Shami during the Sonakpur Stadium practise in Moradabad.
