Sitapur. The rift between Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav and the party’s founding member Azam Khan is not decreasing. Other parties are also trying to take advantage of the tussle between Azam Khan and Akhilesh Yadav. In this they are also successful to a large extent, but Akhilesh Yadav’s messengers are not able to meet Azam Khan.
Akhilesh Yadav, along with other leaders, sent Samajwadi Party MLA and senior party leader Ravidas Mehrotra from Lucknow’s Central Assembly constituency to Sitapur jail. There Ravidas Mehrotra was to meet former cabinet minister Azam Khan on Sunday. When the jail administration informed Azam Khan about this, Azam Khan refused to meet Ravidas Mehrotra and the leaders of the Samajwadi Party who accompanied him. He felt exasperated when the delegation went to meet Azam Khan, the founding member of the Samajwadi Party, instead of the national president of the party. Azam Khan told the SP delegation that his health is not good, cannot be found.
On the instructions of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and National President of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav, MLA from Lucknow and former minister Ravidas Mehrotra reached Sitapur Jail today to meet Azam Khan. Ravidas Mehrotra, who reached the Sitapur Jail premises, returned unharmed from there. Ravidas Mehrotra, who reached Sitapur Jail around 11 am, said that he had come to meet Azam Khan on the instructions of SP National President Akhilesh Yadav ji, but he refused to meet him. Jail Superintendent Suresh Kumar Singh told that Azam Khan had refused to meet Ravidas Mehrotra. After that he has gone back from there. After this, SP MLA Mehrotra made serious allegations against the jail administration. He said that Azam Khan’s health is bad and he is sleeping. He did not say anything on the matter of meeting him, but said that his health is bad.
Significantly, earlier on Friday, Shivpal Singh Yadav met Azam Khan in Sitapur Jail. There was a meeting between Shivpal Singh Yadav and Azam Khan for about an hour. Shivpal Singh also made a direct attack on his elder brother and SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav for the first time after meeting SP leader Azam Khan in jail. Shivpal said that even Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) did nothing for Azam Khan. The matter was not even raised in the Lok Sabha. If he wanted, he could have protested. Azam Khan is in jail for 26 months in small sections.
He said that he would request Netaji to take up Azam’s case. Earlier Shivpal had never spoken anything against Mulayam. In such a situation, why did the cloud of his mind suddenly burst? Its implications are being extracted in the political corridors. This is because when Mulayam removed Shivpal from the post of state president and made Akhilesh the state president, he accepted the decision silently. Even when Akhilesh was made the CM post, he remained silent. With this stand of Shivpal, it seems that now all the doors of SP are closed for him.
