New Delhi. There is good news for the fans of Indian Premier League. Board of Control for Cricket in India President Sourav Ganguly has said that spectators will be allowed to come to the stadium of 100 percent capacity in the knock-out matches to be held after the league matches. Kolkata and Ahmedabad have been selected to host the knock out matches.
Talking to PTI, Sourav said, “As far as men’s IPL knockout matches are concerned, it will be held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. These matches will be allowed to have 100 percent spectator capacity of the spectators during the knockout matches. The matches will be held after May 22 after the league stage match.
The women’s IPL matches will take place after the league matches are over. Sourav said on this, “Like every time, this time also women’s IPL team matches are going to be held in Lucknow between May 24 and May 28 between the existing three teams. Ganguly said on this, Women The Challenger Series will be held from May 24 to 28 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
In the new season of Indian Premier League, 10 teams are playing instead of 8. The number of teams has increased but the format has not changed much. Each team will get to play the same 14 matches as before and the knockout match qualifiers and eliminator after the league match. Finally, the final match after which the name of this year’s IPL winner will be decided. The teams are divided into two groups of 5-5. A team will play two matches each from the four teams of its group apart from any one team from the other group. Apart from this, the remaining four teams will have to play seven matches each.
