Lucknow. The incident that took place on Sunday in the prestigious Gorakhnath temple complex of Gorakhpur has created a sensation. The facts that have come to the fore so far are indicating that this incident may be part of a terrorist conspiracy. The attacker Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi, who has done chemical engineering from IIT Bombay, may be linked to the terrorist organization IS.
According to sources, the UP ATS and STF engaged in the investigation have got some videos and literature related to IS and Syria from his laptop. Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Kumar Awasthi has also said that it cannot be ruled out as a terrorist incident. Every point is being checked.
The Gorakhnath temple is the supreme seat of the Nath sect as well as the residence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In such a situation, the seriousness of the incident has increased much more. Meanwhile, late in the evening, sources said that the ATS and STF engaged in the investigation have recovered some videos and literature related to terrorist organization IS from Murtaza’s laptop. Now the investigating agencies are gathering information whether it has only videos or really its strings are related to IS or any terrorist organization.
Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Kumar Awasthi and ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar held a joint press conference on Monday at Lok Bhavan regarding the Gorakhpur incident. He said that the attack on the security personnel in Gorakhnath temple is part of a serious conspiracy.
Based on the available facts, it can be said that this is a terrorist incident. The attacker was trying to enter the temple premises with the intention of carrying out a terrorist incident, which was thwarted by the PAC and police personnel.
It is believed that if he had entered inside, he could have caused heavy damage to the devotees present there. Senior officials said that the attacker Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi is a resident of Gorakhpur and many items including laptop, mobile have been recovered from him.
All aspects from Murtaza’s travel history are being investigated. Along with the local police, the investigation has been jointly handed over to UP ATS and UP STF. ADG of both the agencies has been sent to Gorakhpur. He will also investigate these facts whether Mortaza does not have international links.

It has also been revealed that he used to search the Internet for weapons and methods of Lone Wolf attack. Lone wolf attack refers to an attack that is carried out by terrorists alone. He wants to spread panic by taking the lives of many people single-handedly with a small weapon. It is noteworthy that Ahmed Abbasi Mortaza also single-handedly attacked with a sharp weapon.
Team will go to Mumbai to collect information about Murtaza: As soon as the investigation comes in the hands of ATS and STF, a team is also being sent to Mumbai. The team will gather information about the attacker after reaching where he stayed during and after his studies at IIT Bombay. The people who were in contact with him there will be asked how his activities were. What institutions or organizations was he in contact with? Where did he go? Investigating agencies are hopeful that some important information can be found about Mortaza from Mumbai. Suspicion has also deepened because he raised a religious slogan during the attack. It is believed that he may be associated with some jihadi mission.
Additional Chief Secretary Home said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an award of five lakh rupees to the brave soldiers who foiled the attack. The award will be given to PAC constables Gopal Gaur and Anil Paswan as well as police constable Anurag Rajput, who were injured in the incident.
