Chandauli. The books of the new academic session were sent from the district headquarters to Dhanapur BRC but were sold at the junk shop located at Bichhiyan Kala. When SDM Judicial Pradeep Kumar, who was going to the Collectorate, caught sight of the scrap shop, the matter opened. In a hurry, the Block Education Officer including BSA reached the spot.
After this, more than 8 quintals of books found at the scrap shop were confiscated and sent to the headquarters. Simultaneously, the officers got involved in the investigation of the case. More than 16 lakh books have been made available in the district for distribution of books for the new academic session to 2 lakh 13 thousand 195 children registered in 1185 council schools in the district.
The books are stored in the rooms of the Pre-Secondary School located next to the BSA office at Headquarters. From here the process of sending the books on the BRC of all the blocks is going on. On Wednesday, the books were sent from the BSA office located at the district headquarters to Dhanapur BRC after being loaded on pickup.
Officials say that the driver did not go to the BRC and sold the bundle of books at a scrap shop located in Bichiyan Kala. Meanwhile, SDM Judicial Pradeep Kumar, who was going to the Collectorate, caught sight of the scrap shop. When questioned about books, the matter came to the fore.
This caused panic among the officials of the Basic Education Department. In a hurry, the officials reached the scrap shop. After this, 166 bundles of about eight quintals of books were confiscated from the scrap shop and sent to the headquarters. After this, along with matching the books received in the Education Department district as well as the books sent in different blocks, the officials got involved in the investigation of the whole episode.
BSA Satyendra Singh said that the books of 2020-21 and 2021-22 have been received from the scrap shop. The books have been confiscated. The books sent to the district headquarters and BRC are being reconciled. An inquiry committee has been constituted there. After the report comes, FIR will be taken against whoever is found guilty.
Three-member committee formed to investigate the matter
After getting the books of the new academic session at the scrap shop, BSA Satyendra Singh has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the whole episode. This includes the Deputy BSA as well as the BEO of Sadar and Sakaldiha. After investigation, the report is directed to be made available by Thursday. Action will be taken on the basis of inquiry report.
The department is busy in shaving
There has been an uproar due to the government book being distributed to the children in the council schools at the scrap shop. According to the education department, the books sent on BRC were matched with the books received in the district. There is also talk of reaching books at Dhanapur BRC. In this situation, from where did the government book reach the scrap shop close to eight quintals. Certainly, an effort is being made on the part of the department to do away with it.
