Islamabad. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed deep concern over the country’s growing population and declining agriculture. He said that every year Pakistan has to buy lakhs of tonnes of wheat from abroad, due to which the foreign exchange reserves in the country are constantly depleting. According to him, about 40 percent of the children of the country are not able to grow physically in the way they should in their lifetime. The reason for this, he said, is that these children are not getting enough nutrition.
He said that a country whose 40 percent children are victims of hunger or they do not get enough nutrition, that country can never progress. According to him, in a country where children are in such a bad condition and where governments fail to provide food to their children, the culprits should be punished. Imran Khan, interacting with farmers at the Farmers’ Convention held in Islamabad, described food security as the biggest challenge in the country. He said that Pakistan needs to take steps now to save its population from food shortage in future.
Imran Khan said that we need to think from now that how will we be able to feed our rapidly growing population in the coming 5-15 years. On this occasion, he mentioned Israel and said that he also took the desert and barren places in his work and today it is one of the selected countries of the world. Describing food security as a national security, he said that one of the reasons for the decline in the physical health of children in the country is due to lack of milk.
The PM said that even the basic necessities are not being provided to the children in the country. Due to the restrictions, the production of milk has come down and due to this we have lagged behind other countries. According to him, one of the solutions is to improve our local animals by bringing semen of good quality bullocks from abroad. The PM said that Pakistan is not fit for everyone to live in. It is not made for everyone. A class has everything and nobody tries to change it.
