The event is on Sunday evening. Satbir, a resident of village Simlya in Dwarikhal block of Pauri Garhwal district, was in the forest with his 35 goats. Along with cousin Kiran (11) and relationship’s sister Simran (13). Satbir, who was undergoing treatment at Kotdwar Base Hospital, said that there was a fire on the other side in the forest, but on the side where they were, everything seemed to be right. In a while, he was to return to the village with goats. Meanwhile, the wind started blowing. According to Satbir, he was so engrossed in things that it was not known that he was surrounded by flames. Once all three were horrified to see the terrible fire. Two teenagers started crying, but Satbir did not lose heart. He immediately broke the green branches of the trees and started extinguishing the fire.
This paved the way for the flames to pass through. He immediately escorted his sisters to a safe place. After this he went to pick up the goats. Five goats were killed by the fire, but 30 were rescued. However, Satbir got very scorched in this effort. His clothes caught fire. In this situation, Satbir quickly ran towards the river about three hundred meters away. He leaped into the river. Meanwhile, the sisters reached home and informed in the village.
A large number of villagers reached the spot. Satbir was lying on the bank after leaving the river. The people of the village took him by ambulance to the base hospital at Kotdwar. According to doctors, his condition is out of danger. Satbir, a student of class 11, said that it was a blessing from his father and God. Satbir’s father Chandramohan says he is proud of his son’s courage.
