The court of Special CBI Judge Sujatha Singh of CBI for taking bribe for issuing work fulfillment certificate sentenced Lt Col (Garrison Engineer) Bharat Joshi and Assistant Garrison Engineer Manish Singh posted in the Military Engineering Services Unit. Keeping in view the witnesses and evidence in this case of the year 2016, the court sentenced Bharat Joshi to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of 55 thousand rupees. At the same time, Manish Singh will have to pay a fine of Rs 15,000 with rigorous imprisonment for five years.
According to CBI advocate Satish Garg, in 2016, the military engineering services unit awarded the contract to contractor Harendra Singh to construct two-storey residential buildings at the IRDE campus in Raipur. Harendra Singh was to get Rs 16 lakh after the completion of the work. For this, he needed a work completion certificate, which was to be issued on behalf of Lieutenant Colonel Bharat Joshi resident Raipur. Harendra Singh said that Bharat Joshi demanded 38 thousand rupees for issuing the certificate. On July 4, Harendra Singh reportedly gave Rs 10,000 to Bharat Joshi as initial funds. A few days later, Bharat Joshi asked for 10,000 more. This time Harendra Singh complained to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI, after confirming the allegation, laid a trap to catch Bharat Joshi. In July 2016, Bharat Joshi called Harendra to the office of Assistant Garrison Engineer Manish Singh to give 10 thousand rupees. As soon as Harendra handed over the money to Bharat and Manish, the CBI team arrested both of them red handed.
In this case, 14 witnesses were produced in the court on behalf of the prosecution. In addition, audio recordings of conversations between Bharat Joshi and Harendra Singh were also presented. At the same time, the defense produced 10 witnesses.
