There was a fierce scuffle between RSS supporters and the police in Kumbh region of Vrindavan after a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) accused the police of assaulting a campaigner. After this, many policemen were beaten in public. A video of the incident has also gone viral. According to reports, on Saturday, some policemen allegedly abused and beat up RSS district campaigner Manoj Kumar. At that time, Kumar was taking a bath in the Yamuna River during Vrindavan’s Kumbh Mela.
Soon after the incident, a video went viral on social media, which allegedly involved a dispute between 2 or 3 policemen and some youths and then a young man hitting a policeman with a helmet from behind.
After this, local BJP workers sat on a dharna to protest against the alleged mistreatment of policemen. It also sought the intervention of senior administrative and police officers in the case.
SSP Gaurav Grover and District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal promised to take action against the convicted policemen, when the activists stopped the protest.
A colleague of RSS pracharak Manoj Kumar has registered a case against 4 policemen, including a sub-inspector. At the same time, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activist Bachhu Singh has also demanded legal action against the responsible policemen.
