Dhaka Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi visited the ‘Bangabandhu-Bapu’ digital exhibition, which recalls the lives of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Mahatma Gandhi.
The exhibition showcases the bond of blood and shared sacrifices that unite Bangladesh and India. It is being organized at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) here.
After Bangladesh, the demonstration was inaugurated virtually by Hasina and Modi during a virtual summit on December 17, 2020. It will be sent to the United Nations for display and will end in Kolkata in 2022.
On Friday evening, the two leaders took part in a photo session with Bangabandhu’s younger daughter Sheikh.
Photographs of atrocities, rapes and barbaric atrocities on Bangladeshi women by the Pakistani military during the 1971 liberation struggle are also included in the exhibition.
From December 17, 2020 to January 31, the first digital exhibition on two great freedom fighters was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
The curator of the Dhaka exhibition Birad Rajaram Yagnik briefed Hasina and Modi about the exhibition, which will be shifted to the Craftsmanship Academy in Dhaka for a month after being in the BICC for two days.
Later, the exhibition will be taken to all divisional cities for three weeks.
In addition to photographs and digital content on the various historical events of the two countries, historical quotes from the two great leaders will also be displayed.
The major points of interest of the exhibition are a ‘meeting wall’, in which both Rahman and Gandhi are in a frame. It also mentions the signatures of both the leaders and their favorite music.
Gandhi’s Salt March and Bangabandhu’s historical speeches on 7 March 1971 are its main attractions.
Photographs of Bangmata Sheikh Faziltunisa Mujib and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have also been digitally displayed at different historical events.
Modi arrived in Dhaka on Friday on a two-day state visit to attend the celebrations of Bangabandhu’s birth centenary and the country’s golden jubilee of independence.
The Government of Bangladesh declared ‘Mujib Borshoe’ (Mujib Year) from March 17, 2020 to March 26, 2021.
But, due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, the government has extended the celebrations.
