Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh Police has issued notices to around 220 tractor owners in various districts. Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly and senior SP leader Ram Govind Chaudhary has said that the move has been taken to intimidate farmers and prevent them from joining the ongoing protests against agricultural laws.
However, the police said that the notice has nothing to do with farmers’ protests against the new agricultural laws of the Center.
Bal Mukund Mishra, SHO of Sikanderpur Police Station, said, “Notice has been given to 220 tractor owners in the Sikanderpur police station area of Ballia. The notice mentions that the tractors were used for commercial work on public roads, and The minors were driving them. This resulted in road accidents. Tractors were also used in illegal mining. ”
When asked if the police can issue such a notice, Regional Transport Officer Rajeshwar Yadav said that he was not aware of any such thing.
Meanwhile, Ram Govind Chaudhary said, “The farmers have a tractor and are going to the protest site by tractors. The police have issued notices to disrupt the peasant movement.”
