Dehradun. The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (Ukrand) has raised some questions about the Suryadhar lake. The party alleges that all the rules and regulations regarding the lake have been put on hold. Along with this, the party has also warned the government that if the construction of the dam does not provide the benefit of irrigation, land and employment to the surrounding villagers, then the workers will agitate on the streets.
Vipul Dhasmana, who was a Marine Surveyor in the Government of India, said at the press office held at the party office on Kachari Road on Sunday that there are laws regarding water traffic and water sports at the level of the Government of India. So why is the Uttarakhand government not implementing them. He questioned the use of boats in the Suryadhar lake without making any rules and regulations.
Here, Ukrant leader Shiv Prasad Semwal raised questions on getting the work done at more than 20 percent of the schedule rate and the cost of construction being over Rs 12 crore. He said that the state’s irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj himself has raised questions about this.
Special inquiry has been ordered to Secretary Irrigation, but even after a month, there is no trace of this investigation. He said that it should also be ascertained who has purchased the land around the dam project. The party warned the government that if the construction of the dam did not provide the benefit of irrigation, land and employment to the surrounding villages, then the workers would agitate on the streets.
