New Delhi Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones believes that the absence of veteran batsman Suresh Raina in Chennai Super Kings in the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be a big concern for the team. Raina, who has scored over 5000 runs in 193 matches so far for Chennai Super Kings, has withdrawn from the 13th season of IPL for personal reasons. He went to the UAE with the team, but later returned home again.
Jones said in the Star Sports show ‘Game Plan’, “It will be a big concern for Raina not to be in the team this time, he is one of the top-5 batsmen in IPL.”
“Raina bats with the left hand and bats very well against the spin. It can be difficult for CSK that most of their batsmen bat with the right hand,” he said.
Jones continued, “He needs some left-handed batsmen in the team, especially when he is playing against the leg-spinner and the ball is going outward.”
The 13th season of the IPL is going to start on Saturday and the first match of the league will be played between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
