Indo-Nepal relations have become tense after China’s influence extended over the Himalayan nation.
Recently in India, Nepal had raised objection to the construction of a road at a height of 17000 feet in script. Not only this, Nepal also asserted its authority over the region. Lipulekh is a tri-junction between India, Nepal and China, located in the Kalapani Valley in Uttarakhand.
The purpose of this road construction is to reduce travel time for pilgrims going to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
Apart from this, Nepal has given rise to controversy by taking out a new political map, because in this map it has described some Indian regions as the territory of Nepal.
India rejected the new map, saying it was not based on historical facts or evidence. In the new political map of Nepal, Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura regions have been described as their own, which have always been Indian regions. Along with this, Nepal has also increased its deployment along the Indo-Nepal border. Nepal has also planned to increase the number of Border Outposts (BoPs) from 120 to 500 with a border of 1,751 km.
A senior government official said, “Taking the strained relations between India and Nepal as an opportunity, China, which is already having a border dispute with India in Ladakh, also increased its military deployment near Lipulekh. Is given. ”
China has deployed 150 Light Combined Arms Brigade and is stationed at Lipulek Tri-Junction in August. China has also strengthened military forces in Pala, about 10 kilometers from the Indian border.
In July itself, about 1,000 soldiers were stationed near Pala and a permanent outpost was built by China. In August, 2,000 more additional troops were stationed at the post.
India has also directed its armed forces to increase deployment at the Lipulek Tri-Junction. The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), guarding the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan border, has increased the deployment of 30 companies along the border with Nepal.
Sources said that India has sent additional contingents to strengthen security in some of these areas, taking more vigil on the Indo-Nepal border as well as the tri-junction areas in Uttarakhand and Sikkim.
The Government of Nepal has also directed its forces to closely monitor the activities of the Indian Army in the Lipulekh region between India and China border tension.
Since May, there has been a deadlock between India and China on several points of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
China has tried to change the status quo along the Line of Actual Control at various places. India has objected to this and is taking up the matter with China at all levels.
