Mumbai . Mumbai is in a bad condition due to heavy rains from the night. Many areas have been flooded in the lower areas. Mumbai has become like a pond. A part of the hill in Makar fell on the Western Express Highway due to heavy rain. Waterlogging took place in Lower Parel area of Mumbai. Maharashtra’s environment minister Aditya Thackeray and BMC commissioner reached Hind Mata and inspected the waterlogged area.
Traffic is badly affected due to heavy water logging on the roads of various parts of the city, with long queues of vehicles on the roads causing a jam.
A huge landslide has occurred on the hill on Western Express Highway in Malad with tons of debris causing people to be stranded on the roads with the roads jammed.
Waterlogging has been reported from Sion, Kings Circle, Wadala, Dadar, Kurla, Mulund, Borivali, besides heavy waterfalls in Andheri, Kandivali and Dahisar.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has installed water pumps to pump out the flood water and clean the roads.
The IMD had issued a high alert on Monday with the forecast that heavy rains will continue in the Mumbai metropolis for the next 24 hours.
