Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur informed about the introduction of the facility of filing GST tax-payers in the GSTR-1 form by SMS from the first week of July as a major step towards economic reform. And it is said that it will give big relief to lakhs of taxpayers. Anurag Thakur said, “The Modi government at the center is taking every necessary step in that direction to get maximum relief to the countrymen from the Corona disaster. In the coming years, 2020 will be remembered as a year of reforms. For millions of registered GST taxpayers, the Modi government is going to start the facility of filing SMS to the GST in the form of GSTR-1 from the first week of July. This decision of the central government is going to give huge relief to the GST taxpayers. Prior to this, the Central Government has already started the service of filing GSTR-3B Nil Returns through SMS from 8 June 2020. Overall, we have taken effective and decisive steps to facilitate taxpayers in times of crisis. We will continue this process even further. ”
He said, “Till now, taxpayers had to log in to their account on the portal and supply details in Form GSTR-1 every month or every quarter, but the medium of SMS would facilitate their process. This step of filing Form GSTR-1 through SMS will improve GST compliance for over 12 lakh registered taxpayers and they can now focus on their business and not worry about filing returns and statements . “
