Agra. In the famous Sanjali murder case, ADJ Nitin Kumar Thakur has sentenced two culprits to life imprisonment. Along with this, a fine of Rs 5.23 lakh has been imposed on both. The main accused Tayere Bhai had committed suicide shortly after the incident.
On 18 December 2018, in Lalloo of Malpura police station of Agra, a lunatic poured petrol on 15-year-old Sanjali, a student of class 10, who was returning home on a bicycle from school, and set her on fire. The student died on 20 December in Safdar Jung Hospital, Delhi.
Police investigation revealed that Tayere Bhai Yogesh had committed the crime along with his two friends due to one-sided love. The main accused Tayere Bhai Yogesh had committed suicide. ADJ Nitin Kumar Thakur on Tuesday sentenced Vijay and Akash to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5.23 lakh.
Sanjali’s mother said, the murderers should be hanged
On Tuesday, the court sentenced both the accused to life imprisonment in the Sanjali murder case, but the mother of the deceased is not satisfied. She said that both should have been hanged. The mother is also worried about the safety of the family. On Tuesday, the court pronounced the sentence in the Sanjali murder case. The parents and other relatives did not reach the court even on the day of sentencing. The father had gone to work in the shoe factory as usual.
Demand for death penalty
On the other hand, the mother had gone to harvest wheat. On Tuesday evening, she got the information about the sentence through the lawyer. Mother Anita said that if both the accused were hanged in front of her, she would have felt relieved. Only death penalty would have given proper justice to the deceased. Life imprisonment has created a bigger crisis for her. After coming out on bail, both of them had put pressure for reconciliation. They had also publicly threatened that if they are sentenced, they will not spare Sanjali’s other siblings.
Sanjali was the brightest among five siblings
Sanjali was a bright student of class 10th. She was the darling of her labourer father Harendra and mother Anita due to her excellent performance in education. She was a source of inspiration for her elder sister Anjali, younger brother Praveen, sister Pragya and brother Garun. Sanjali’s murder has shattered the dreams of her family. Now her mother also works as a labourer in the fields. The student was murdered on 18 December, the sentence was pronounced on 18 March.
Will appeal in the High Court
Sanjali’s brother Praveen is studying law from Agra College. He is surprised by the life imprisonment given to the culprits of sister Sanjali. He says that he will file an appeal in the High Court. He will get the culprits hanged.
