New Delhi. Bumrah has hinted at the possibility of including Mohammed Shami in the Indian team. During the media conference before the Test, the stand-in captain said that hopefully he can be seen here soon. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah will be seen leading the Indian team in the first Test match.
Jasprit Bumrah is leading the team in the first Test in the absence of Rohit. Earlier in the day, he had said that he was in touch with the regular captain. In a press conference on the eve of the start of the Perth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah said, “I had spoken to Rohit earlier, but after coming here I got some clarity about leading the team.”
‘Can see him here too’
Bumrah further said, ‘Shami bhai has started playing cricket and obviously, he is an important part of this team. I am sure the management is also keeping a close eye on him. Hopefully things will be fine and you can see him here as well.’
Part of Bengal team
It is worth noting that Shami has been asked to play domestic matches and he has been included in the Bengal team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The T20 competition will start on November 23 at different stadiums and Shami will play in Rajkot. He will have to get approval from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before being considered for the Border-Gavaskar.
Deadly bowling in Ranji Trophy
Shami made a strong performance while returning to the Ranji Trophy. Shami, who returned to the cricket field after about a year, had a bad first day. After this the fast bowler roared. Playing for Bengal, he took a total of 7 wickets against Madhya Pradesh. Bengal defeated Madhya Pradesh by 11 runs. Shami contributed with both the ball and the bat in this victory of the team.
