Aligarh. On Tuesday, in Khair police station premises, a woman was set on fire by her own son after pouring kerosene on her. The woman was on fire for about five minutes. The policemen doused the fire with soil etc. The woman suffered 70 percent burns. She was admitted to CHC. As her condition was critical, she was referred to JN Medical College Center.
The Khair Circle Officer said that the woman was sent to the hospital for treatment immediately after she was set on fire. Her son is being questioned. On receiving the information, senior officials immediately inspected the spot.
The woman was living at her maternal home after her husband’s death
According to the police, Hemlata, a resident of Mohkampur in Iglas area, was married in Nagariya of Darkan village in Khair area. Her husband Raj Bahadur Singh died several years ago. After this, the woman went to her maternal home. A few months ago, she came back to live in her in-laws’ house again.

Woman filed molestation case against brother-in-law and her brother-in-law
When brother-in-law and her brother-in-law refused to stay with her, the woman filed a molestation and assault case against them. Police intervened, after which the woman was living in a part of the in-laws’ house with her son Gaurav.
Gaurav set his mother on fire
After this, the in-laws were adamant on getting the house vacated. There was a dispute between the two regarding this. Talks were going on in the police station for two days. On Tuesday also, talks were going on between the two sides. Then Gaurav set his mother on fire. Police has arrested him.
