Srinagar. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has been called to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Srinagar for questioning on Monday. He has been called in a case of alleged misuse of funds while being president of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. According to the information, the ED had issued summons to the former Chief Minister and called him as the President of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association for questioning in connection with the alleged misappropriation of Rs 43 crore.
The BCCI had given funds from 2002 to 2011 to the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association as a grant for the promotion of cricket in Jammu and Kashmir, of which it allegedly scammed Rs 43.69 crore.
Farooq Abdullah’s son and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that no raids are being conducted at Farooq Abdullah’s house and that the summoning of his father by the ED is merely a political vendetta.
Omar tweeted, “The party will soon respond to ED summons. This is nothing short of a political vendetta in the days following the formation of the People’s Alliance for the Gupkar declaration. For the record, tell me that at Dr. Sahab’s residence No raids are being conducted. “
