Fatehpur. Superintendent of Police (SP) Dhawal Jaiswal has taken strict action in the case of murder of three people due to election rivalry in Akhri village under Hathgam police station of Fatehpur district. Just before the arrival of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait in the village on Sunday, the SP has suspended SHO Niket Bhardwaj and Halka Incharge Ravindra Singh with immediate effect.
Allegation of negligence on police
After this sensational incident, local BKU leaders had accused the police of delaying the post-mortem of the bodies. In protest against this, a demonstration was held by blocking the Kanpur-Prayagraj highway, and action was demanded against the police personnel, accusing them of negligence.
SP’s suspension order
SP Dhawal Jaiswal clarified that due to the weak information system of the police in the Akhri case, suspension action has been taken against the SHO and Halka Incharge. He believes that the police could not get the right information in time, due to which this incident happened.
What was the matter
On the morning of April 8, in Akhri village of Hathgam police station, farmer leader son Vinod Singh, younger son Anup Singh and grandson Abhay Pratap Singh of Gram Pradhan Ramdulari were shot dead by firing ten rounds of bullets. After this, the police got the post-mortem done late at night on all three bodies.
Protest by workers
Angry with the post-mortem being done late at night, workers under the leadership of District Vice President of BKU Tikait group Rajendra Singh blocked the highway and created a ruckus and protested demanding action against the police. ASP Vijayshankar Mishra had pacified the BKU workers by assuring necessary action.
Arrest of the accused
The police arrested six accused including the main accused former Pradhan Suresh alias Munnu Singh and sent them to jail, and the house of the daughter of one of the accused was demolished with a bulldozer.
Weak information system
SP Dhawal Jaiswal said that there was an election rivalry between two families of Akhri. Even after this, the police station in-charge and the area in-charge did not keep an eye on their activities. Action has been taken against them due to weak information system.
Discussion on not preparing history sheet
Nine cases like murder, attempt to murder, Gangster Act and Goonda Act are registered against the main accused former Pradhan Suresh alias Munnu Singh. But the police was lenient because the former Pradhan had political protection of the ruling party. Despite nine serious cases against him, Hathgam police did not prepare his history sheet. At this time he was released on bail. This led to discussion that he will be suspended for not preparing a history sheet.
