Bareilly Police of Uttar Pradesh has busted a huge consignment of fake cosmetics and health products. During this time, the police have seized goods worth Rs 1.25 crore. The shocking thing about this whole case is that expired products of famous brands were being sold openly in the markets of Bareilly and people had no idea about it. During police interrogation, the accused told that they used to buy cheap products at cheap prices from Delhi.
Fake beauty products and medicines have been recovered from a rented room in Gandhinagar Colony of Bareilly. The cost of this seized goods is around Rs 1 crore 25 lakh. The police raided and seized 320 boxes and 38 sacks of expired products. Along with this, packing machines, heat sealer, thinner, fake labels, stickers and expiry date stamps have also been recovered. You can’t even imagine that the brands you trust blindly, like Johnson & Johnson, Himalaya, Dabur, Fair & Lovely, Park Avenue, Prega News, their expired versions were being sold openly in Bareilly’s shops.
Fake goods came from Delhi
In this raid, the police arrested Karan Sahni, a resident of Sitapur district. During interrogation, Karan confessed that he used to buy expired products from Delhi at cheap prices. Then he would bring them to Bareilly, print new packaging and latest date and repack them and supply them in different areas of the city. Many shopkeepers in areas like Gangapur, Sailani, Faridpur, Aonla, Mirganj, Sirauli were selling these goods.
Expired products seized in large quantities
The customer did not even suspect these products because the packing was done so neatly that everything looked like the original. Bareilly SP City Manush Pareek’s team has recovered a large quantity of expired products and packing material from the accused. Investigation is on to find out who else is involved in this. More arrests may be made in this case soon.
