New Delhi: The story of the legendary Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, has been brought to life on the big screen by Sajid Nadiadwala, head of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It was recently announced that Mr Petkar will be honoured with the Arjuna Award (Lifetime) 52 years after his achievement.
On receiving this prestigious achievement Murlikant Petkar said, ‘I am truly overwhelmed and extremely grateful to receive the prestigious Arjuna Lifetime Award, this honour is not just an individual achievement but it is a testimony to the collective effort and faith of many good individuals, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Sajid Nadiadwala ji who not only believed in my story but also put his trust and resources to bring it alive on the big screen through the film Chandu Champion’. He further said, ‘Their unwavering support changed everything, I would also like to mention the efforts of Kabir Khan, who presented my journey on the big screen in the most authentic way and Karthik, who presented my story in the best way, this moment is as much mine as it is theirs, I am really grateful to the entire Chandu Champion team, who made this film and inspired many people in the country through my story’.
An all-rounder in sports, Muralikant Petkar competed in many sports before excelling in para-swimming. He has emerged as a true symbol of historic success and courage. Let us tell you, Chandu Champion was released on June 14 last year, in which Karthik Aryan played the role of Muralikant Petkar.
