The murder of the priest of an ancient temple in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh created a sensation. The priest’s body was found lying on a cot in the temple premises. He was murdered with a sharp weapon. The murder of the priest created a stir in the area. On information, top police officials reached the spot. Along with the forensic team, the dog squad was also called to the spot.
The police have started investigating who committed the murder. The priest’s body has been sent for post-mortem. Priest Munnalal was originally a resident of Sirsa Bhamraua in Bareilly district. He was serving in the temple for the last 12 years. There is anger among the people due to his murder. 5 police teams have been formed to uncover the priest’s murder.
The temple gate was locked from inside
There is a 200 year old Shiva temple in Bhatwali village of Agwanpur Chowki area of Thana Civil Lines area of Moradabad district. Here 65 year old Munnalal Kashyap works as a priest and lives in the temple premises. Like every day on Thursday morning, Shivpal of the village had reached the temple with milk. Shivpal told that when he reached the temple, the gate was closed. Whereas the gate used to open till 4 in the morning. When the gate did not open till 10 o’clock, Shivpal called the priest. There was no movement for a long time, so they informed the people of the village. The villagers saw that the temple gate was locked from inside.
The dead body of the priest was lying on the cot
The villagers complained to the police on dial 112. The police reached the spot, opened the gate and went inside to find the dead body of priest Munnalal lying on the cot. As soon as information about the incident was received, Civil Lines Police also reached the spot. Considering the seriousness of the incident, SSP Hemraj Meena along with the forensic team inspected the incident site. SSP Hemraj Meena said that 5 teams have been formed to uncover the incident. Soon the accused of murder will be arrested.
