A massive fire broke out in the wood market in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. The fire was so terrible that smoke spread all around the surrounding areas. People immediately informed the police as well as the fire brigade. Nothing is clear yet about how the fire broke out. It is being speculated that the incident may have happened due to short circuit.
There are about 300 small and big shops in the Firozabad market where the fire broke out, where wooden furniture, frames, boards, ply and other items are sold. Some shops are permanent. Most are made of wood or iron tin sheets. Eight fire brigades from Firozabad are engaged in extinguishing the fire, while fire brigade vehicles were also called from Agra and Etah. There is anger among the people as to why there are no arrangements to extinguish fire in such a huge timber market. Two years ago also there was a fire in this market.

People say that 150 shops have been burnt to ashes. Firozabad Sadar MLA Manish Asija, Municipal Corporation Mayor Kamini Rathore, Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Kumar Mishra, CO City Kamlesh Kumar and forces from several police stations reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Fire department teams are busy controlling the fire. Saroj Devi said that she had two shops, everything was burnt and ruined. Nothing left. The fire engine came late.

Kath Bazaar Association President Pramod Kumar said that the administration wants to vacate the shops here. He had also said that let Ramlila happen and then we will see. Therefore it smacks of conspiracy. There has been a loss worth crores. Everyone has been ruined. Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sadar MLA Manish Asija said that it is not known how this fire broke out, but there is a huge loss. Right now efforts are being made to control the fire.
