India’s dominance in Asian para sports continues. India’s veteran athlete Sumit Antil has won the gold medal in javelin throw, breaking the world record. Sumit Antil and Pushpendra Singh performed brilliantly in the final of Men’s Javelin Throw – F64 on the third day of the 4th Asian Para Games and won gold and bronze medals. Sumit Antil has broken the Asian Para Games record with a throw of 73.29 meters.

Sumit Antil managed to reach this mark in his third attempt of the day. Arachichige Samith of Sri Lanka stood second in javelin throw, he won the silver medal with a throw of 62.42 meters. Whereas, Pushpendra Singh stood third with a throw of 62.06 meters and won the bronze medal. In this way, India has won a total of 36 medals so far in the Asian Para Games. These include 10 gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze medals.
17 medals were won on the first day
India is placed fifth in the list of winning most medals in Asian Para Games. India had started the Asian Para Games on a great note. India had won a total of 17 medals including 6 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze on the very first day. A total of 303 athletes from India have participated in the Asian Para Games this season. These include 191 male and 113 female athletes. This is the largest contingent sent by India.
